REGENERATION BY DESIGN

Cotton produced according to the Regenerative Cotton Standard® (RCS) is more than just environmentally friendly cotton.

In addition to environmental benefits that promote the health of entire ecosystems, it also takes social aspects into account by supporting the social structures of local communities. That is exactly what drives us: promoting this eco-preserving cultivation method with the best possible outcome for nature, people, and farm animals.

How It All Started

Following Cotton made in Africa®, Cotton made in Africa Organic, and The Good Cashmere Standard®, the Regenerative Cotton Standard® was developed in 2023 as the latest cotton standard from the Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF). What all four standards have in common is their value to business, people, and nature.

RCS targets cotton grown by small-scale farmers. It aims to improve their overall resilience and productivity while adding value to farmland, rural communities, the biosphere, and the quality of life of farm animals. To achieve these objectives, RCS addresses the entire production system rather than only the cotton itself. RCS can draw on AbTF’s 20 years of experience in the cotton sector. The foundation’s work has always focussed on responsible sourcing, which is confirmed by the independent verification of raw materials and a commitment to transparency and traceability.
